DOE OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY:
To convey a professional, friendly and helpful attitude to all who call or visit the Greater Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce and the Visitor Information Center.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities.
Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.
Assist in conducting day to day operations of the Visitor Information Center Answer the Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Information Center telephone lines to convey a confident, positive attitude Assist tourists and other patrons by giving directions and offering information about the Idaho Falls and surrounding areas Prepare vacation packets and relocation packets for mailing Use computer programs, internet and email to assist in gathering and providing information as needed Stock brochures in displays Move boxes of brochures to and from storage area Restock shelves (straighten product and re-fold T-shirts), restock cooler Clean the store (dust and straighten shelves, dry mop or vacuum floors, wet mop floors as needed, wipe fingerprints off doors, clean bathrooms as needed throughout the day, take out trash) Operate cash register Process credit card transactions Balance cash drawer daily, reconciling money to sales Take initiative to look around to find what needs to be done and do it Check at closing:
back door is locked; safe drawer is locked; lights (as appropriate) are off; front door is locked after leaving Abide by Chamber of Commerce policies and procedures as outlined in the Chamber of Commerce Employee Handbook Represent behavior appropriate to position at the Chamber of Commerce Take direction from the Visitor Information Center Manager and work as a team member with fellow employees ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Visitor Information Center Associate is accountable to the Visitor Information Center Manager and the Chief Executive Officer.
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or GED equivalent; Customer service and sales experience; Cash handling experience; Working knowledge of cash register, multiple line telephone, credit card processor, copier, fax machine, calculator; Basic computer skills to include:
Word processing and data entry; Must be able to work varied hours (between 8:
30 and 7:
30 pm) and some Saturdays as needed.
Must be able to work approximately 20 to 30 hours a week.
Must be dependable; Ability to lift 30 lbs.
Must be familiar enough with the area to be able to provide travel information and to verbalize driving instructions to local attractions.
Dress in a neat, clean and professional manner.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
