Summary:
Arrange for the efficient and orderly admission of inpatients and admission of individuals who have hospital based outpatient testing or procedures.
Ensures that the patient's information is collected, entered into hospital computer system accurately, and that all patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures.
Interviews incoming patient or representatives and enters information required for admission into computer.
Distributes appropriate information to all ancillary departments.
Must maintain a 95% accuracy rate quarterly on all admissions.

DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Responsible for pre-registering/registering patients for scheduled admissions, emergency visits, and outpatient procedures.
Obtaining information or verifying information already on file including demographics, physician, emergency numbers and insurance information.
Responsible for obtaining and entering accurate insurance information as well as running eligibility.
Will maintain working knowledge on in/out of network insurances, arranging primary and secondary insurance, eligibility requirements, and insurance types.
Responsible for scanning in patient information including but not limited to patient orders, advance directives, identification cards, and other documents as needed.
Responsible for participating in required department scanning submitted by other disciplines.
Responsible for obtaining signature on all appropriate consent forms including Conditions of Admission and initiating the Advanced Directive process.
Notifies patient of programs available to patients as appropriate.
Communicates appropriately and clearly to the manager, supervisor, team lead, nurse managers, coworkers, patients, families, and physicians.
Communicates any incomplete registrations, unattained consents, or incomplete tasks to the next shift.
Receives patient payments, posts and makes a daily report of cash receipts.
Maintains department records, reports, and files as required.
Responsible, when previous arrangements have been made or a co-payment is required, to collect such payments and record payment including obtaining signature for payment arrangements and automatic payments.
Responsible for knowing hospital policies and being familiar with hospital services that are available.
Responsible to knowing Admissions processes and being familiar with Admissions services, knowing where to find education and resources.
Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function well in stressful situations.
Has ongoing situational awareness specific to patient/visitor needs, lobby control, and wait times.
Ensures that the patient is the first priority and that all patient/visitor needs are met to the best of our ability.
Has basic understanding of billing system and is able to post payments, print receipts and reports, and answer basic billing/insurance questions.
Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity; ensures confidentiality of patients' records.
Maintains patient confidentiality at all times and understands processes related to anonymous status of a patient.
Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.
Participates in the educational program, completes annual educational requirements, and attends in-service and staff meetings as required.
Attends all other meetings as required.
Accepts and completes other duties as assigned or requested.
Must maintain a 95% accuracy rate on quarterly report card.
Must maintain accurate time clock punches, punch in and out according to hospital policy.
Answers incoming calls to the facility in a professional, timely manner.
Must maintain a professional attitude.
Must wear appropriate clothing acceding to dress code.
Responsible for admitting walk in patients according to EMTALA guidelines where/when appropriate.
The employee is required to comply with all PCI standards and other company policies and procedures for payment card acceptance and security.
Nights and Weekends:
Able to work independently and self-motivate while maintaining productivity and efficiency.
Has the ability to problem solve and troubleshoot issues, know available resources, and who/how/when to reach out.
Will remain alert and oriented for the duration of shift.
Maintains clear and effective communication with leadership team regarding any issues, complications, or needs.
Prepares balance sheet and daily deposit, records daily payments, counts till, and requests any needed change.
Responsible for notifying on-call team members of patient arrival for unscheduled outpatient procedures.
Responsible for escorting patients/visitors to their destination after hours.
Will monitor patients and visitor traffic during their shift and notify security of any issues.
Contracted Tasks:
Performs correct pre-registration process as needed for any inpatient admission to the floor in a timely manner.
Able to coordinate and communicate effectively with clinical team members regarding patients and visitor status/needs.
Monitors and obtains signatures on all appropriate/required consents forms not obtained by daytime staff due to patient status or other complications.
Emergency Admissions:
Responsible for timely and effective communication with ambulance/EMT staff.
Understands the timely process of pre-registration for an incoming ambulance.
Responsible for communicating all self-pay and veteran insurances to the Patient Financial team.
Actively attempts to collect co-pay payments based off of the patients insurance requirements Responsible for calling any IFCH Code Red.
Understands how to read the control panel, the process for overhead announcements, and where resources/education items are.
Must be able to update the encounter type as required for specific patient's conditions.
Able to work in a high stress environment, emotionally handle difficult and sensitive scenarios, and respond professionally and accordingly to emergency situations.

Education/Certification:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Experience:
One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Equipment/Technology:
Ability to use hospital information system, and operate basic computer functions and software.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
