Staff Scientist - Radiological Incident Response

DescriptionIdaho National Laboratory is hiring a Staff Scientist - Radiological Incident Response to work in our Emergency Response and Readiness department.
Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our REC facility with every other Friday off.
This person will report to the manager of the Emergency Response and Readiness department.
Provide technical direction and instruction to Federal, State and Local radiological response assets in radiological hazard identification, detection, characterization, x-ray radiography assessment and mitigation strategies.
Responsibilities Include:
Support research, development, training, and exercise demonstration activities associated with the Nuclear/Radiological Search & Response Training Program.
Foster the utilization of Laboratory capabilities and personnel by radiological emergency response personnel.
Develop intra and inter-laboratory partnerships to address research and instruction in crisis and/or consequence management associated with nuclear/radiological materials and associated facilities.
Generate ideas for new proposals and business development opportunities.
Prepare training curriculum and materials for scientific and technical products, reports, documents, presentations, and concept papers.
QualificationsMinimum Requirements:
PR0300 - HS and 13 years relevant experience in lieu of degree, BS Degree and 5 years experience, MS and 3 years experience, or PhD and 2 years experienceExtensive experience in x-ray radiography assessment operations or nuclear/radiological incident response in lieu of education may be considered.
Degree in Radiation Protection/Health Physics, Physics, Nuclear Engineering or comparable technical degreePractical experience (5-10 years) in radiation safety/protection, radiological detection, x-ray radiography and/or nuclear reactor operations is preferred.
Familiarity and experience with U.
S.
crisis and consequence management mission desired.
Nuclear/Radiological Emergency Response team participation experience preferred.
Ability to travel approximately 1 week per month, minimum.
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
The following INL Qualifications will be mandatory:
Radiation Worker II,Radiological Source Custodian,Principal Researcher.
Additionally,DOT Advanced Radioactive Material (RAM) Shipper Certification and Air Transport of Radioactive Materials Training (IATA).
