Responsibilities Include:
Will be the assigned Structural-System Engineer for various structural systems and associated activities at MFC.
The Structural-System Engineer will apply knowledge, practices, and techniques to lead in developing designs for new or modified facilities, processes, specialized equipment and/or utilities through design and implementation phases.
In this role the engineer will apply engineering knowledge, practice, and techniques in support of assigned systems and components and be responsible to ensure continued operational readiness of assigned systems and components in support of ongoing nuclear operations and research.
Technical understanding of the design requirements, system performance criteria, physical configuration, operation, testing, and maintenance of assigned systems and components is key.
Perform Structural Engineering role for modifications; develop designs and analyses, oversee development of design documents (drawings, ECARs, specs, SDDs, etc), assign quality requirements, develop and support execution of start-up activities, and maintain redlines and as-build drawingsPerform structural and radiation shielding calculations, design simple to complex structural modifications to existing structures and design new structures related to engineering design projects.
Perform civil and structural engineering design, participating in in-house structural engineering design projects, and collaborating with external engineering firms to support project specific design tasks, cost/schedule/scope base lining of engineering projects, technical and functional requirements development, conceptual design reports, procurement and construction specifications and contract documents development, and field construction support.
Implement code compliance studies per the ACI, ASCE 7, ASCE 43, ASCE 4, AISC, IBC, the INL Engineering Standards, and DOE Orders and Standards, and apply these code requirements to engineering outputs.
Minimum Requirements:
Level 3 or 4Bachelor s Degree in Mechanical, Civil or Structural Engineering and a minimum of 5-8 years relevant engineering experienceOR a Master s Degree and a minimum of 3-6 years relevant engineering experience.
Must be a US Citizen and have the ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a DOE L clearance.
Ability to design, analyze and evaluate structures/systemsPerform finite element software calculationsAbility to assess situations impacting structural integrity and public health and safetyAbility to applying advanced or complex engineering concepts and techniques to solve Structural/Civil related problemsCommunicate with operations, engineering, nuclear safety, maintenance and programmatic personnel both verbally and through written productsAbility to identify and complete engineering work tasks such as design/analysis efforts, maintenance activities and operating written instructionsAbility to plan, organize, and lead engineering workPreferred Requirements:
