Our team works a 4X10 schedule located at our Materials and Fuels Complex in Idaho with every Friday off! Responsibilities Include:
Provide technical leadership for Nuclear Safety Engineering Activities for reactor facilities at the Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) Nuclear Facilities and engaging facility operations and line management to facilitate coordination necessary to ensure adequate staffing and technical direction for ongoing and new nuclear activities and facilities.
Manage daily activities of facility safety engineers:
Plan, schedule, track, safety analysis assignments.
Prepare safety basis documentation for MFC and BEA owned INTEC facilities.
Work scope includes obtaining supporting technical studies (e.
g.
criticality, radiation protection, and structural analysis) and completing technical adequacy review of those studies within areas of expertise.
Perform USQ process, screenings, and evaluations, for proposed changes and potential inadequacies (new information).
Perform follow-on actions, development of ESS documentation, resolution actions, etc.
Must take the lead for these functions at MFC and have ability to work USQ process to completion without upper management direction.
Serve as the Nuclear Safety Engineering member on the MFC Operations Safety Board.
Mentor the personnel assigned to Nuclear Safety Engineering.
Maintain Nuclear Safety Engineering staff training such that personnel are competent for assigned responsibilities.
Obtain company-level and DOE-ID reviews and approvals of safety basis documentation and other products.
Issue for review, resolve comments, and obtain approvals.
Assure authorized work scope and technical resources are aligned and change is managed and coordinated with other departments as needed.
Engage and participate with applicable standards boards and committees as well as applicable external entities.
Review MFC documents and procedures in support of safety analysis tasks and nuclear facility operations.
Communicate and interface frequently with nuclear facility operations staff, DOE-ID counterparts, Nuclear Safety home org, and up-line management in support of assigned safety analysis tasks.
Engage and participate with applicable standards boards and committees as well as applicable external entities.
QualificationsMinimum Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in a relevant technical discipline and 8-12
years relevant experience in safety and/or hazards analysis and nuclear facility operations, or Advanced degree in engineering or related science 6-8
years relevant experience.
Experience developing SARs/TSRs that are compliant with the nuclear safety rule (10 CFR 830) and execution of the USQ Process (or similar commercial nuclear process) required.
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy L / Q clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

Experience in interfacing with regulators in resolving comments and other issues that arise in the development and update of SARs/TSRs.
