Our team works an on-site 9x80 schedule located at our Research Education Campus with every other Friday off!The Regulatory Support Department provides regulatory support and technical expertise across a variety of facility deployment and risk assessment applications for reactor and non-reactor activities for both domestic and international customers.
Department technical risk assessment activities include Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) methods, models, and applications, risk assessment training courses, and reactor licensing regulatory framework.
The PRA methods, models, and applications capabilities includes operational experience data collection and analysis for initiating events, hardware component failures, and common cause failures.
The reactor licensing regulatory framework capabilities include developing guidance for the licensing and near-term deployment of advanced reactor technologies, including microreactors and joint use multi-purpose plants.
Responsibilities Include:
Staff member responsible for supporting activities performed by Regulatory Support Department.
This support is with respect to both national and international customers requiring development of advanced risk analysis methods or tools for various applications.
The staff member supports activities of basic reliability or risk analysis theories, principles, methods, concepts, tools, and technologies.
The staff member applies these skills for various applications with a major work focus commercial nuclear power plant systems.
The staff member uses knowledge in other related fields, such as data analysis or machine learning to develop new risk information.
The staff member is mentored with the expectation of becoming a contributing professional who is building a reputation for technical expertise.
After initial on-the-job risk assessment, the staff member supports the development of advanced risk analysis methods and tools with minimal oversight.
The staff member works on project(s) teams to building effective internal relationships and a spirit of cooperation, teamwork, resource sharing, and mutual respect for those in the Regulatory Support Department.
The staff member is encouraged to participate in professional activities, university interactions, special assignments, and external special interest groups.
The staff member will be groomed to contribute to the development of new capabilities within the department.
Products and deliverables will include portions of journal papers, reports, proceedings, scientific, and technical products.
Work in some or all of the following areas of research and applications will likely be performed:
Understanding of probabilistic risk assessment (PRA) with application to nuclear power plantsBasic understanding of nuclear power plant systems, and component operationBasic understanding of programming language(s)Functional ability to use, read, write, or modify code (e.

) or manipulate input/output filesHazards assessmentMachine learning or time-series data analysis.
Graphical fault trees and fault tree analysisReliability, availability, maintainability, analysis (RAM)System safety analysisVerification and Validation of modeling and simulation applicationsFire PRA or fire simulation modelling (such as CFAST or FDS)Statistical analysisRegulatory and licensing activities with the nuclear communityDevelopment of advanced risk analysis methodsQualificationsMinimum Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in engineering and 5 years relevant experience, or Master of Science degree in engineering and 3 year relevant experience, or Doctorate in engineering and 2 yearsPreferred Requirements:
