Support Service Specialist

Specialized Experience Requirement:
For the GS-6 level:
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 grade level.
This experience must have demonstrated knowledge of the methods and procedures for providing or performing a variety of functions and services applicable to the position to be filled; ability to plan, organize, and control work involving diverse activities; ability to gain cooperation and coordinate the work of others; and skill in oral and written communications.
Examples of qualifying specialized experience are:
Provide visitor information to customer; Assembled monthly expenditures for operating budget reporting; Reviewed correspondence for grammatical accuracy; Purchased, received, and distributed supplies and special order items, including reconciling purchases in a database and monitoring when additional supplies needed to be ordered.
For the GS-7 level:
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-6 grade level.
This experience must have demonstrated knowledge of the methods and procedures for providing or performing a variety of functions and services applicable to the position to be filled; ability to plan, organize, and control work involving diverse activities; ability to gain cooperation and coordinate the work of others; and skill in oral and written communications.
Examples of qualifying specialized experience are:
Collecting and analyzing budgetary information and statistical data for use in the formulation and execution of budget requests collection of monies and reports; Purchasing supplies, equipment, and services; Creating travel orders and vouchers; Composing, typing, and proofreading correspondence and narrative and tabular material (i.
e.
, databases and spreadsheets).
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.
g.
, Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.
g.
, professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT:
If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
