Eastern Idaho Technical College' s student organization DECA and the Eastern Idaho Technical College Foundation are pleased to announce the second annual Michelle Kern Memorial 5K. This event will take place on Friday, October 12, 2012 at 7 p.m., beginning and ending on the Eastern Idaho Technical College campus, Michelle Kern' s alma mater. Participants are welcome to walk or run the 5K route. Cost for high school or college students is $15 with a student ID or activity card. Regular registration fee is $20 and late registration fee (after October 10, 2012) is $35. All ages are encouraged to join in this event for a powerful cause. Michelle Kern was a 2011 graduate from EITC' s Business Marketing & Management program and an active DECA member. Three days after graduating, Michelle, her sister Malinda, and Michelle' s two young sons, Jack and Gage were murdered in Michelle's parents' home. This tragedy was a great loss to family and friends, Eastern Idaho Technical College, and the community. Proceeds from the Twilight 5K will be used to support the Eastern Idaho Technical College DECA and the Michelle Kern Memorial Scholarship for an Eastern Idaho Technical College student. Please join us in making sure that her memory will live on through the gift of scholarship. All support is greatly appreciated. Food and craft booth space is available at the event. For more information on the Twilight 5K, please contact Michelle Ziel at 208-524-0464. Information about DECA and the EITC Foundation can be found at www.deca.org and www.eitcfoundation.org, respectfully. http://www.eitcfoundation.org/wwwroot/userfiles/files/twilight_registration_form_final.pdf

Don't Be Fooled

  • When selling, do not put your home address in your ad.
  • To avoid scams, buy and sell with people you can meet locally, in person.
  • When meeting with someone you don't know, meet in a public place. If that's not possible, have a buddy with you. Also, carry a cell phone; if you feel unsafe, you can call a trusted friend, and stay on the line.
  • Never give out financial or private information like account numbers, PayPal login, or social security number.
  • If an offer sounds too good to be true, it is. Walk away!
